Jared ‘s
parents bought a piano for him when he was six, and he continued to play
through high school. During his junior year, he went to a drum clinic with
Chester Thompson (of Genesis fame), and purchased a drumset the next day.
This marriage between melody and rhythm naturally led him to the bass guitar
while in college, and he never put it down except to sleep or shower. His
bass has seen every conceivable style, and thousands of road miles in bands
such as Rhythmfinger, Cardinal Points, Southpaw Preachers, the Logarithmix,
Aural Tide, Ezra Thomas, Linus (out of College Station), among others.
![]() Some of his many influences include Earth Wind and Fire, Brothers Johnson, Jaco Pastorius, Jamiroquai, Tower of Power, Steely Dan, Talking Heads, Michael Franks, Junior Brown, Isaac Hayes, Lyle Lovett, Carpenters, Jimmy Buffett, the Moody Blues, and…strangely enough…a lot of exotica and lounge music – he encourages you to check out Robert Mitchum’s calypso album…it rocks! He spends his little bit of spare time working
on his 40 acres east of Dallas, taking care of his son, and playing his bass
(when his son isn’t yanking on the cords or turning the knobs).Jared is currently looking for some cool stage name as he has sadly never had one. That's okay though, we will think of one for him real soon, but Don't Tell Mama!
